Local Craftsmanship

Quality, North East artwork

I take great pride in my work. As a photographer, nothing beats people deciding to part with their hard-earned money to purchase one of your prints, and I still get a real buzz with every sale. As a small business, competing on price by producing in large quantities, or providing a next-day service are just not options, which leaves quality of product and service.

All my prints are produced by a local company that happens to be one of the most well-respected photographic printers in the country - digitalab in Newcastle. I have used them for nearly 15 yeas now, and the level of service and quality of their prints is beyond question. My mounts and frames are produced by Factory Framing Centre, also in Newcastle. Again the quality of the product is excellent. I use local firms wherever possible for the other materials and products I source and produce, from greetings card printers in Northallerton to web designers on Teesside. It is important to me that I know the people I buy from personally, and that means keeping it local as far as possible.

Once the prints and frames have been produced, they are put together by me. It's not something I've ever considered out-sourcing, because the quality of the end product is of the utmost importance to me. That means making sure there are no marks or blemishes on the print, mount or frame, ensuring for images that have a visible horizon that its level, and sealing framed work properly to protect the image inside. It also gives me the chance to title and sign each mount by hand.

Buying online is very different from buying in a shop. If you prefer to do that, see my Outlets page for more information. What I've tried to do with this website is show images large enough to see the quality of the image, with frames visualised as accurately as possible so that what you receive is as close as possible to that viewed online. If you're not happy with what you've received, you can find out more about guarantees and refunds on my How to Buy page.

If you want to see reviews of my work from previous customers, the latest few are shown on the Review page. You can also leave a review there for any pieces you've purchased, and I'd encourage you to do so if you have a few spare minutes.

“Thank you for the beautiful picture of Embleton Bay which I received today. It brings back wonderful childhood memories of summer holidays spent there!”
